Please attend the next Meet and Greet meeting, dates below, or pop into one of our lively monthly members’ meetings which are held on the first Tuesday of the month at a venue tbc, starting at 7.30pm and ask for Max Webb (Information Officer).

Meet and Greet

The Meet and Greet meetings take place at Mickey’s Diner on Bluebell Hill (A229) starting at 19:30 and are a chance for prospective members to ask questions of senior members of the group and see what is involved as well as for South East 4x4 Response to get to know you.

There are three types of membership:

Responder – has a 4x4 vehicle. After receiving Kent Police Level 2 vetting approval, attends a weekend's Induction Training, and is happy to attend subsequent competencies refresher training.

Support Member – no 4x4 vehicle required. After receiving Kent Police Level 2 vetting approval, attends a weekend's Induction Training with no driving or vehicle assessment, and is happy to attend subsequent competencies refresher training.

Associate Member – no 4x4 vehicle required. Is interested in supporting the group with the fundraising and other community activities that do not require Kent Police Level 2 vetting or activity related training.

After attending a Meet and Greet, or members’ meeting pop-in, a link will be sent to our online application form.

Police Vetting

Vetting Application for a Responder or Support Member

Max Webb, the Information Officer, will ask you to complete Non-Police Personnel Vetting Level 2 (NPPV2) form which asks for basic information – name, DoB, NI number and email address. Max will then arrange with you to see and take a copy of either your passport and proof of address, (within the last 3 months, e.g. utility bill) OR driving licence + birth certificate and proof of address (within the last 3 months, e.g. utility bill). These will be sent to the Kent Police Vetting department who will send you a link to their on-line portal which will remain active for 3 weeks.

Training

Induction Training and Assessment takes place over a weekend. Future dates are below. Competencies include an overview of the Member’s Manual, First Aid, Health and Safety, Vehicle Recovery, various methods of Radio Communications, Dealing with the Public, Map Reading, Required Kit, First Aid and Driving Assessment.

Training will normally be allocated upon successful Kent Police Vetting

A membership fee is due once you have completed your Induction Training.

Membership Fees

Membership fees, which include payment to cover 3rd party liability insurance, are payable in May each year.
Pro rata fees are payable on completion of Induction Training.

Full Year’s Membership Fees for 2024/2025 and 2025/2026:

Responder - £25
Support Member - £12
Associate Member - £5
