In spite of the heat, the fundraising team supported the Armed Forces Day event at The Historic Dockyard, Chatham, this week. We had fantastic feedback from both the public and organisers. A great day had by all with the grand total of £1639 raised to start our fundraising year.

Congratulations to our 3 newest members who completed their competency training to become responders over two long days this weekend. Well done to all 3!

A rather unusual request for South East 4x4 Response came in. Two of our responders valiantly rose to the occasion to safely tow the Sittingbourne Carnival Court float to the Lydd Club Day Carnival. The float won best 1st place as Best Float of Day! Well done to all.

Two of our responders were out helping Kent Search and Rescue teams with transportation in the search for a high risk missing person. The person was found safe and well, a positive outcome for all.

Three of our responders have been out supporting Kent Search and Rescue with road searches and transportation for their teams to and from search areas in the Bluebell Hill area. Sadly, on this occasion, there wasn't a positive outcome to the search.

We were delighted to welcome Trevor Sayer from SERV Kent Bloodrunners Volunteers who gave a talk at our monthly meeting. He outlined how SERV, Service by Emergency Response, was formed, how they operate and who they work with. £46.64 was raised at the meeting with a further donation of £50 from South East 4x4 Response to help towards the costs of the charity.

Our South East 4x4 Response Committee would like thank our 74 active members. Members gave up 4151 hours of personal time to cover 21311 miles in their own vehicles over the last year during call outs, supporting a variety of events, local parishes, and fundraising. Quite an achievement when all are volunteers!

Members of our team of volunteers have been out supporting Cancer Research's Race for Life in Tunbridge Wells. Starting at 6am, our volunteers transported signs and other equipment to mark the course. Race for Lifers ran distances of 5k and 3k raising funds for the Cancer Research. It was a pleasure to be there supporting the event in Dunorlan Park.

Volunteers from South East 4x4 Response were delighted to join the Kent Fire and Rescue Service Safer Sheppey and Kent Fire and Rescue Service Safer Ramsgate. Both days had plenty of fun activities for families with primary age children. The focus for the days being to learn how to stay safe in the event of a fire. A range of emergency services supported the days including South East 4x4 Response.

Responders went to support a search with Kent Search and Rescue in the Tonbridge area. The missing person was found safe and well.

South East 4x4 Response are unable to respond directly to assistance requests from members of the public.
