Thirteen members from South East 4x4 Response supported the Christmas Land Rover Meet at Monkshill run by Pegasus Garage, to raise money for The Salvation Army and Kent Wildlife Trust charities. There were prizes for the best dressed Land Rover along with a further prize for the best dressed South East 4x4 Land Rover. One of our trucks was runner up in the first competition owned by Alan, our Treasurer. Cliff won our competition with his truck which sported a seat for Santa in the rear of the pickup. A lovely fun festive afternoon complete with mulled wine, tea and coffee. Some 30-40 Land Rovers joined the fun.

A social drive out to Essex saw members along with family visiting Kelvedon Hatch Nuclear Bunker. A fascinating few hours touring the bunker with plenty of social moments for chats. What a fascinating few hours; a great time was had by all. Our thanks to Mike Parrish and his team for having us.

Every year the Golden Shackle is awarded at one of our monthly meetings to a responder who goes above and beyond. This year the Golden Shackle was awarded by our Quartermaster, Mark, to our Chairman, David, for driving to Woburn Center Parc to collect one of our family members, his family, along with his car which had broken down. The last holder of the Golden Shackle, also at this "rescue", had travelled down through France to bring a member and his son back to the UK following an accident in a previous year.

Responders supported the Movember event at Brogdale, Faversham, hosted by Pegasus Garage. A lovely event in support of the annual November campaign raising awareness of men's health issues, including prostate cancer and testicular cancer. Thank you to the responders who supported the event.
We have a social side to our group, it's not all hard work. This weekend saw members along with their families enjoy a weekend camp earning some well earned RNR. Good fun was had by all with a very convivial atmosphere. Thank you to Ride House Farm, Eastchurch for supporting the weekend with the use of their facilities and making us so welcome.

Eleven of our members, along with family, who own Defenders, travelled in convoy to the Dunsfold Collection for The Rover Social yesterday. A lovely day with plenty of time to socialise whilst viewing the large collection of historic Land Rovers, mainly Defender based. Two members from Hampshire 4x4 Response joined us for the event. There was an opportunity to share good practice between the two groups. We also spotted members from both Sussex and Surrey 4x4 Response groups with Defenders too.
